Caspi, Joseph ben Abba Man
(1280-c. 1340)
   French commentator, philosopher and grammarian. He was born in L'Argentiere and lived at Tarascon in southern France. He wrote commentaries on Maimonides' Guide for the Perplexed. As a follower of Aristotle and Averroes, he equated their teaching with Judaism. He evoked the opposition of many rabbis who regarded his views as heretical.
